About Day to Day Tools

A small, deliberately unglamorous collection of tools for the things people actually need to work out.

Why this exists

Search for something as ordinary as “percentage calculator” and you land on a page with four popups, a cookie wall, a newsletter interstitial, and the calculator itself pushed below three screens of ads. You wanted one number. You got a negotiation.

Day to Day Tools is the opposite bet: put the tool at the top, make it work instantly, explain the answer properly underneath, and fund it with ads placed around the content rather than in front of it.

How the tools work

All 14 tools run entirely in your browser using JavaScript. There is no server doing the calculation, because there doesn't need to be — arithmetic, text processing and image resizing are all things a phone from 2016 handles instantly.

This has three consequences worth stating plainly:

  • Your data never reaches us. The text you paste, the photo you resize, the password you generate — none of it is transmitted. We couldn't read it if we wanted to.
  • The tools work offline. Load a page, disconnect, and it still functions.
  • Pages load fast. Static HTML and a few kilobytes of JavaScript, with no framework to download first.

What we won't do

  • No accounts. Nothing here requires a sign-up.
  • No email capture before you can use a tool.
  • No paywalls or “upgrade to export” buttons.
  • No ads disguised as buttons. Every ad unit is labelled and placed outside the tool.
  • No uploading your files to process them.

How this is funded

Advertising, through Google AdSense. That pays for hosting and for the time it takes to build and maintain the tools, which is why they can stay free and account-free.

We put real constraints on it: ads sit above or below content, never inside a tool, never between you and a result. Every unit is labelled “Advertisement”. Slots reserve their space in advance so nothing shifts under your finger as the page loads. If an ad placement ever makes a tool worse to use, the placement goes.

You can read exactly what data advertising involves in our privacy policy and cookie policy.

Editorial approach

Every tool page explains the formula it uses and where it breaks down. That's the part most tool sites skip, and it's the part that turns a number into something you can actually act on or defend to someone else.

Where a tool touches health or money, we say plainly what it can't tell you. A BMI figure without its caveats is worse than no figure. A loan payment without the total interest is a sales pitch.

Corrections

If a tool gives a wrong answer, or an article gets something wrong, tell us and we'll fix it. Accuracy complaints go to the front of the queue — get in touch.

What's next

New tools get added regularly, driven mostly by what people search for and can't find done well. If there's something you keep needing and keep not finding, that's the most useful thing you can tell us.
